In a Saturday noon showdown that lived up to the hype, the 15th ranked Alabama Crimson Tide outlasted No. 5 St. John’s 103–96 in an early season offensive showcase.
Sophomore guard Labaron Philon led the way for Alabama, erupting for 25 points while controlling the tempo and hitting key shots when it mattered most. The Crimson Tide played with pace and confidence, using their trademark speed and spacing to keep St. John’s on their heels throughout the game.
For Rick Pitino’s Red Storm, senior forward Zuby Ejiofor turned in a monster performance. He exploded for 27 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks, dominating inside and providing energy on both ends. Despite his standout play, St. John’s couldn’t contain Alabama’s relentless offense down the stretch.
With the win, Alabama improves to 2–0, securing a signature non conference victory early in the season. St. John’s falls to 1–1, but showed plenty of fight and firepower in what could be a preview of both teams’ March potential.
It was a high scoring statement from the Crimson Tide and an early reminder that Alabama’s offense can go toe to toe with anyone in the country.
