In another marquee non-conference showdown, Duke showed once again why many consider them the nation’s best team. The 4th-ranked Blue Devils walked into a raucous Breslin Center and emerged with a statement victory, defeating 7th-ranked Michigan State 66–60 in a true battle of unbeatens.
Duke now stands at 10–0, while Michigan State drops to 8–1 after going toe-to-toe with the Blue Devils for the full 40 minutes.
The game was physical, fierce, and tightly contested throughout. Neither team allowed the other to gain much separation, and the second half turned into a high-level exchange of momentum swings. But when winning time arrived, Duke’s proven late-game strength took over.
The turning point came with 3:59 remaining, when Isaiah Evans drilled a big-time three to put Duke back in front in what had been a back-and-forth struggle. The Blue Devils never gave the lead back, locking down defensively and making the plays Michigan State couldn’t down the stretch.
Freshman phenom Cameron Boozer once again delivered a dominant performance, leading Duke in all three major statistical categories: 18 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 assists. His presence on both ends fueled Duke’s second-half surge and steady control late.
The Blue Devils’ ability to rise after halftime has been one of their defining traits all season, and this game was no exception. Their poise, adjustments, and execution in the final minutes sealed another signature win.
A massive road victory for Duke, who continues to strengthen the case that they are the most complete and dangerous team in college basketball.
