NFL Power Rankings – Week 5

1. Philadelphia Eagles (4-0, Last Week: 1) – The defending Super Bowl champs stay unbeaten. It hasn’t been pretty, but the Eagles keep making enough plays on defense and special teams to stay on top.

2. Buffalo Bills (4-0, Last Week: 2) – What else is there to say? Josh Allen is the best player in the NFL, and James Cook is consistently cooking.

3. Detroit Lions (3-1, Last Week: 8) – The Lions are surging. They did something no team had done yet — figure out the Browns’ defense. They don’t seem to have a real weakness right now, and it feels like we haven’t even seen their best yet.

4. Los Angeles Rams (3-1, Last Week: 6) – The Rams continue to prove they are a force to be reckoned with. They’re very close to being 4-0.

5. Los Angeles Chargers (3-1, Last Week: 3) – The Chargers drop two spots after a tough loss in New York against the Giants. Even with the loss, they’ve proven enough this year to still be an AFC favorite. Losing the turnover battle won’t help, and it was a tough game for Justin Herbert.

6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (3-1, Last Week: 4) – When all seemed lost at the end of the first half Sunday, the Bucs fought back and pushed the Eagles to the wire. While unlucky, it doesn’t hurt them much season-wise. Huge test this week against Seattle.

7. Seattle Seahawks (3-1, Last Week: 9) – Seattle keeps winning behind a defense comparable to the old Legion of Boom. It works because Sam Darnold only needs to protect the football and make plays downfield—a big showdown with Tampa is coming.

8. Kansas City Chiefs (2-2, Last Week: 13) – After starting 0-2, the Chiefs have bounced back in a big way. Mahomes will soon have all his weapons as Rashee Rice’s return is imminent.

9. Green Bay Packers (2-1-1, Last Week: 7) – The Packers are on back-to-back tough weeks. The offense failed against the Browns, then the defense collapsed against Dallas, giving up big plays and settling for a tie. It’s another bad look for a team that two weeks ago was an early favorite to bring the Lombardi Trophy back home. The season isn’t lost, but they need answers during the bye.

10. Indianapolis Colts (3-1, Last Week: 5) – The Colts lost by seven to LA and were an Adonai Mitchell premature celebration away from a possible tie at the end of regulation. Daniel Jones continues to be up-and-down, which raises concerns against top-tier teams.

11. Washington Commanders (2-2, Last Week: 10) – They would’ve dropped more if not for the news that Jayden Daniels is returning next week. They fell to a weak Falcons team, allowing Bijan Robinson to run wild. Facing the Chargers and Omarion Hampton next, they need to lock down the run to compete.

12. Denver Broncos (2-2, Last Week: 14) – After two bitter late-game losses, the Broncos bounced back with a vengeance, demolishing the Bengals on Monday night.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1, Last Week: 16) – The Steelers impressed overseas Sunday morning. Aaron Rodgers continues steady play, and Pittsburgh now looks like the AFC North favorite.

14. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1, Last Week: 18) – The Jags finally got a signature win, bringing relentless pressure on Brock Purdy and making him uncomfortable all game.

15. San Francisco 49ers (3-1, Last Week: 12) – Purdy looked rusty against Jacksonville. A huge Thursday night matchup with the Rams awaits.

16. New England Patriots (2-2, Last Week: 20) – Nothing went wrong for New England against Carolina. They cleaned up their turnovers (0 this week after 5 the week before) and rolled easily.

17. Chicago Bears (2-2, Last Week: 19) – After an 0-2 start, Chicago has now won two straight. It wasn’t flashy, but they got it done before heading into the bye.

18. Minnesota Vikings (2-2, Last Week: 15) – Another week, another mixed bag. They played decently against Pittsburgh but remain a middle-of-the-pack team with upside.

19. Dallas Cowboys (1-2-1, Last Week: 24) – Dallas jumps after exposing Green Bay’s defense like no one else has. They’ve scored 40+ in three straight games, but their defense remains a liability.

20. Baltimore Ravens (1-3, Last Week: 11) – The panic alarm has sounded. Lamar Jackson’s status is uncertain, and the Ravens have gone from Super Bowl contenders to bottom-tier in a hurry. Hosting Houston next, 1-4, is a real possibility.

21. Houston Texans (1-3, Last Week: 23) – Houston moves up after a 26-0 shutout of Tennessee. But was it meaningful? The Titans have looked checked out since Week 2.

22. Atlanta Falcons (2-2, Last Week: 30) – The Falcons make the biggest jump this week, moving up 8 spots. Still, they feel very average. If Jayden Daniels had played for Washington, would the outcome have been different?

23. Arizona Cardinals (2-2, Last Week: 17) – The Cardinals looked lost Thursday, like a team with nothing left in the tank. They briefly showed life before stalling again.

24. Cleveland Browns (1-3, Last Week: 21) – Their defense has been the saving grace, but they got no pressure on Goff and allowed Gibbs to run wild. The offense continues to be a major issue.

25. Las Vegas Raiders (1-3, Last Week: 25) – Hard to decide whether they or the Browns deserved 25. Outside of RB Jeanty’s breakout, there’s little positive here. Geno Smith looks like his Jets days, and nothing’s working other than being able to sell a lot of super expensive tickets while the team stinks.

26. Carolina Panthers (1-3, Last Week: 22) – The Panthers go from beating the Falcons 30-0 to losing 42-13 to the Patriots. They scored a TD early to take the lead, but it fell apart quickly after Marcus Jones returned a punt 87 yards to the house.

27. New York Giants (1-3, Last Week: 26) – Jaxson Dart looks like the QB of the future, but losing Malik Nabers for the season is crushing.

28. Miami Dolphins (1-3, Last Week: 31) – They move up after a Monday night win, but losing Tyreek Hill is devastating. Feels like they’re just waiting for next season.

29. New York Jets (0-4, Last Week: 29) – The Jets have found a way to lose by one score in every game but the Bills game.

30. Cincinnati Bengals (2-2, Last Week: 28) – With Joe Burrow done, their season is over. It’s a shame — they started 2-0 and looked like a playoff team.

31. New Orleans Saints (0-4, Last Week: 32) – They competed, which is more than Tennessee can say.

32. Tennessee Titans (0-4, Last Week: 30) – There’s always next year.
