After the controversial ending to the match-up between France and Egypt

After the controversial ending to the match-up between France and Argentina on Friday, the hosting nation will face off against Egypt in the semi-finals of the football, for what could be a historical finish for the African nation, looking for their first ever medal in this sport. Egypt would also be looking at ending a 14-year drought since they last won a major tournament when they defeated Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations.

But this will be their toughest test yet, with host France showing why they have been deemed clear favorites from the start of the Olympics. Thierry Henry and his men showed great resilience against Argentina and will once again play for pride in front of their home crowd tonight.

France’s Michael Olise has proven to be valuable to his team, but striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and Olympique Lyonnais’ strike partner Alexandre Lacazette have been able to show great composure throughout the length of the Olympics.

Egypt went into the Olympic Games without their superstar Mohamed Salah, but have plenty of explosiveness in their squad, with players eager to crush France’s hopes for another gold medal in Paris.

France will play Egypt at the Lyon Stadium, with kick-off at 4 am PT, 9 PM local time
