Game of the Year Candidate: Bills 41, Ravens 40

Buffalo, NY — Sunday Night Football

On the final home opener at Highmark Stadium, fans witnessed a game that may already go down as the best of the 2025 season. In a thriller packed with big plays, dramatic swings, and late-game heroics, the Buffalo Bills edged the Baltimore Ravens 41–40 on a Matt Prater walk-off 32-yard field goal.

This matchup carried plenty of heat from the start — a revenge game for Baltimore after last year’s crushing two-point loss to the Bills in the Divisional Round. Both quarterbacks lived up to the moment. Josh Allen once again proved why he’s the best quarterback in the league, throwing for 394 yards with two passing touchdowns, rushing for two more, and leading the game-winning drive with just 1:32 left. Lamar Jackson countered with two passing touchdowns and a rushing score, keeping the Ravens in control for much of the night.

Buffalo trailed 34–19 entering the fourth quarter and looked finished. Allen’s two-yard touchdown run cut the deficit to 34–25, but the Bills failed on the two-point try, keeping them down by nine. Baltimore responded with a momentum-shifting sequence — Jackson escaped pressure for a dazzling 19-yard scramble, and on the very next play, Derrick Henry broke free down the sideline for a 46-yard touchdown. Henry finished the night with 18 carries for 169 yards and two scores, powering the Ravens’ ground game. But Baltimore’s missed extra point left the score at 40–25, a mistake that would loom large.

The Bills clawed back once more. After forcing punts, Allen hit big throws to keep the chains moving before punching in a red-zone strike to Jackson Hawes to cut the deficit to eight. Then, with 3:10 left, Baltimore fumbled deep in its own territory, and two plays later Allen powered into the end zone again to bring Buffalo within two. The two-point try failed once more, leaving the Ravens ahead 40–38.

Baltimore turned conservative, bleeding the clock and forcing Buffalo to burn its timeouts. But Allen got the ball back with just over a minute remaining, and with clinical precision, marched the Bills into field-goal range. Matt Prater’s 32-yarder as time expired sealed the comeback.

In a game where Derrick Henry ran wild and Lamar Jackson made highlight plays, it was Allen who refused to let Buffalo lose. On this Sunday night, Josh Allen reminded everyone why he’s the ultimate difference-maker in the NFL.

Final: Bills 41, Ravens 40.
