THE ACQUISITION OF GEORGE PICKENS IN DALLAS

One thing that I’ve observed over the last few years in Dallas is the lack of a consistent deep threat down the field for Dak to utilize. Cee Dee Lamb has had some moments, but he’s often been double-teamed to the point where that hasn’t been an option for Dak to stretch the field enough with Lamb.

One move that the Cowboys made via trade was bringing in former Steeler WR George Pickens, who I believe will make a huge impact on the Cowboys’ offense. When healthy, Pickens is a viable deep threat, and he’ll definitely draw some attention on the opposite side of playing with Lamb.

This recent acquisition, bringing Pickens to Dallas, will reap major benefits for Dak and the Cowboys’ offense. Pickens’ presence alone will help mitigate the frequency of Lamb being double-teamed, and defenses will now have to adjust and minimize the double-team aspect on Lamb. The fact that George Pickens is a deep threat and with Lamb working underneath the coverage to create separation, expect the Cowboys’ offense to stay on the field longer than in years past.

The ability for the Cowboys to post more offensive production is a necessity. When you look at the NFC East, you’ve got the world champion Philadelphia Eagles still on the rise, and the emergence of the Washington Commanders with QB sensation Jayden Daniels can’t be ignored. The Giants appear like they’ll even be a better team than last year, but that remains to be seen.

When looking at the numbers Pickens put up in Pittsburgh during the 2023 season, it can only bring more excitement to the Cowboys and their fan base. Pickens stayed relatively healthy that season, and he posted 1,140 yds receiving, 5 TDs, and an amazing 18.1 yards avg. per reception. If he can duplicate or even better those numbers in the 2025 campaign, look out, as Big “D” may be renamed as the “Big O”!
